By Any Means

MalcolmSaw this kid on the T this morning. He was banging out some homework and rocking this suburban gangsta Yankees hat that had, logically enough, incorporated the words of Malcolm X into the Yanks logo. “By aNY means,” the cap read.

The relationship is obvious, isn’t it? Malcolm talked about equality and dignity; the Yankees are big fans of steriod-laced brute-force capitalism. Thus, a perfect marriage between the two.

In honor of this kid – clearly a future governor or captain of industry or something – I’ve prepared a Blingee of what Malcolm X would look like, if he was what this kid thought he was – not dead, not a Boston guy, a fan of the suburbs, and a wicked big Yankees fan – one who would surely be all amped from a great hot stove season and ready to open a new Yankee Stadium to replace their old, stank-ass concrete hulk of an old Yankee stadium. And here he is.
