New(ish) Beer Clip

Just in time for the end of the first week in February, it’s January’s Beer Advocate magazine clip! Yeah, pretty late, but hopefully somewhat worth the wait.

This (last) month spotlights Tonya Cornett, brewmaster at Bend Brewing Company and the World Beer Cup’s 2008 small brewpub brewer of the year.

Here’s a two-ounce sampler:

[Big German breweries are] pretty pigeon-holed into the thinking on what makes a correct beer. If anything, I’ve found that there are many right ways, and it depends on your brewery, or which way’s right for you. We are thriving here, and there’s a lot of creativity and ingenuity here that they don’t allow themselves to have.

The whole interview’s online home is up over here. And if you don’t want to wait several weeks for me to get around to putting these bad boys online, you could always get off your couch and subscribe – an option that, actually, lets you stay parked on your couch while the beery journalism gets delivered right to you.
