If the newswires can be believed, Deval Patrick was in a fine mood today. He called Tim Cahill’s criticism of Beacon Hill’s majority party a “canard,” and said he’d welcome a reelection fight, chirping, “He should bring his A game.” But Patrick’s best line came when he was asked his feelings on Cahill’s sudden defection from the state Democratic party. The governor paused, grinned, and said, “Always hate to lose a good Democrat.”
