The Journal ran today with news (sub. req., or via Reuters) that $148 in bailout money hasn’t been able to restart lending at thirteen of the country’s biggest banks. And Bloomberg says banks without federal money are lending more than banks on the dole. Maybe that other $350 billion could loosen things up?

Fresh off momentarily killing Steve Jobs, Bloomberg news service claimed another victim yesterday: the already dazed and reeling United Airlines. A piece announcing United’s 2002 bankruptcy leaked back onto the wires yesterday, and the airline’s stock tumbled by more than $9 a share in just half an hour.

Well, he isn’t anymore.
But he was, briefly, yesterday afternoon, when Bloomberg accidentally published a half-written obituary of the Apple CEO. The wire service later “retracted” its death notice. So sorry!
